The 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) will be held September 17-30, 2019 in New York City. This year’s UNGA will include a number of issues that are critical to the work and mission of the Global Financing Facility (GFF) and to achieving health for all by 2030.

The theme of the high-level meeting is ‘Universal Health Coverage: Moving Together to Build a Healthier World.’ This aim of the meeting is to mobilize the highest-level political support for UHC and sustain health investments in a harmonized manner at the country level. The political declaration on UHC can add value to these efforts and set milestones towards achieving UHC by 2030. The GFF and partners will issue a joint statement at the high-level meeting.

Funding the Future 2.0:
The Next Frontier for Financing Models in Health

With only 11 years left to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, the international community must explore alternative funding models. This session will convene a group of thought leaders and practitioners to discuss the next frontier for development finance by evaluating what we’ve learned about the current landscape and identifying the steps forward. The event is co-hosted by MSD for Mothers, the GFF, Overseas Private Investment Corporation, and GBCHealth. The GFF will showcase and discuss results from its innovative financing work during a panel discussion.

Launch of the Global Action Plan for Healthy Lives and Well-being for All:
Stronger Collaboration, Better Health

During this high-level meeting, the “The Global Action Plan for Healthy Lives and Well-being for All: Strengthening collaboration among multilateral organizations to accelerate country progress on the health-related Sustainable Development Goals” will be launched. The plan is a joint commitment by 12 global health and development agencies, including the GFF, to advance collective action and accelerate progress towards the health-related SDGs. The GFF will be represented during the event by Dr. Muhammad Ali Pate.

Data for Health Equity: Unlocking Health for All

The event, co-organized by the Rockefeller Foundation and UNICEF, will focus on the potential of data advances to drive progress on the world’s top health challenges, and the specific obstacles we’ll face in activating this digital revolution.
