The government of Tanzania remains committed to improving access to services for the poorest and most vulnerable women, children, and adolescents.

With GFF support, the government leads the implementation of an investment case — One Plan II — that prioritizes regions with lagging health outcomes and critical shortages of health care workers and essential medicines. Direct funding channeled to frontline health care facilities helped strengthen their autonomy on how to spend the resources to serve community needs. At the same time, a direct health financing facility has channeled funding to more than 5,800 health facilities throughout the country to expand quality services, increase service utilization, reduce stockout of medicines and medical supplies, and improve infrastructure. These efforts have contributed to reducing inequities in the priority regions and improving service coverage throughout the country.
