Inside the GFF: Innovative, Scalable Approach to Birth Care Saves >1,000 Newborn and Mothers' Lives
Ahead of International Women’s Day, the New England Journal of Medicine published the results of an innovative health program, Safer Births Bundle of Care (SBBC) in Tanzania focused on frequent on-the-job training of healthcare workers that has cut maternal deaths by 75% and early newborn deaths by 40%.
Speaking at an event earlier this week, Tore Gordal, renowned global health leader and visionary, called the results “revolutionary,” emphasizing that the key factors were the quality of services and a more comprehensive approach to addressing the challenges.
