The Generation Equality Forum began from March 29 to 31, 2021 in Mexico City and culminated on June 2021 in Paris. Initiated by UN Women, co-chaired by France and Mexico, in partnership with civil society, this will be the largest global feminist gathering for twenty-five years. The Generation Equality Forum will bring together States, international organizations, civil society and the private sector to define a series of concrete actions to advance gender equality and women's rights around the world.

Between December 2020 and March 2021, the General Secretariat of the Generation Equality Forum is organizing a series of 7 thematic events dedicated to the Forum's six action coalitions. These are multi-actor partnerships defined around six themes identified as priorities:

  • Gender-based violence (December 7)
  • Justice and Economic Rights (December 14)
  • Bodily autonomy, sexual and reproductive rights and health (January 8, 2021)
  • Feminist Action for Climate Justice (January 25, 2021)
  • Technologies and innovations for gender equality (February 8, 2021)
  • Feminist movements and leadership (February 22, 2021)
  • The "Women, Peace & Security and Humanitarian Action" agenda (March 1, 2021)

The last event in March 2021 was devoted to the follow-up mechanism of the "Women, Peace and Security and Humanitarian Action" agenda, which was launched at the Forum in Paris on June 2021.

The events aimed to raise awareness of action coalitions and their challenges and to mobilize the largest number of actors committed to gender equality in France. Hosted and moderated by the Ambassador and Secretary General of the Generation Equality Forum Delphine O, each event welcomed five speakers representing a State, an international organization, civil society, the private sector as well as an expert on the subject. During an hour and fifteen discussions, panelists defined the key messages of the action coalition, how to make the various actors committed to gender equality work together and to create international solidarity.

Bruno Rivalan, Senior Partnerships Specialist, participated on behalf of the GFF.
